Ceramic Heater Elements

Ceramic far infrared heater elements operate at much lower and safer temperatures than the electric radiant type found in conventional sauna systems. The best infrared heater elements as fitted in our Soft Heat saunas use concave ceramic emitters as 96% of the energy output is emitted as infrared waves, whereas conventional elements (rod-style) have an efficiency ratio of only 50%(at best)

Cermic Heater Element Infrared SaunaAnother advantage of the SoftHeat ceramic infrared heaters is the size & mass of the element which results in a consistent, steady, radiating heat in the sauna, also the lower surface temperature and higher wavelength of these far infrared sauna systems which results in better skin penetration and increased sweat production.

Depending on the size of the sauna room several ceramic heating elements are needed to effectively warm everybody relaxing on the benches. A typical 4-person home sauna system should have at least 6 far infra-red ceramic elements. However, our 2 person Duet series sauna has 6 elements to ensure maximum health benefits and up to 9 elements in the larger models.

SoftHeat ceramic heaters are 100% pure solid ceramic engineered to the finest quality and scientifically proven to provide true far infrared energy. They are tuned to emit far infrared energy at approximately the same wavelength the human body produces.* We have documentation to show that they emit 90% of their heat in the far infrared range (30-40% at 9-10 microns, 60-70% at 6-12 microns).

Our SoftHeat ceramic far infrared heaters provide constant emission and are controlled by state of the art circuitry board to provide constant, safe and efficient energy (rather than oscillate between “on” and “off” as in the conventional thermostat controlled design)

Beware that some manufacturers use simple metal rod style elements that heat the chamber through convection, not radiation, or use large aluminium plates disguised to look like ceramic material. The concave heater design in all SoftHeat saunas produces a v-shaped energy wave to cover the chamber more evenly

Heater area is not relevant. What’s relevant is threefold: (1) the ability of a heater to deliver constant energy at the far-infrared wavelength, (2) the number of heaters, and (3) their physical placement to disperse the energy evenly throughout the sauna interior. Our heaters are curved (concave) to better disperse far-infrared energy throughout the interior of the sauna. The Soft Heat ceramic emitters are engineered to produce radiant heat that is within the frequency levels as our own body heat and thus is in tune with our own energy system. So it’s safe and compatible for us to use inside SoftHeat saunas, allowing deep heat penetration not possible with other methods of heating.

P.S. - The emitters used by SoftHeat Saunas are so gentle that hospitals use them to warm premature infants and, so, work in harmony with the body.

Ceramic starts from natural earth elements, and is the industry standard for use in Infrared Saunas. Concave Ceramic Heaters are able to spread Infrared heat very well.

Carbon heat panels, as advertising has shown, start as a piece of flexible fibreglass. (Note: Fibreglass is made of epoxy resins and glass.) A very thin layer of “carbon” is printed onto the fibreglass, and another fibreglass layer is added to encase the layer of “carbon” into the middle. Then the entire fibreglass panel is pressure laminated. These heaters are often branded as “Organic Carbon” heaters
