The History of Hydrofloss

In the summer of 1987, Don Evans Sr., the inventor of the Hydro Floss® oral irrigator and founder of Hydro Floss, Inc., began testing the theory behind his idea. At that time, he was working in the field of water treatment with magnets, where the de-scaling of mineral build-up on vessel walls was successful.

Don had experienced severe periodontal disease in the past, and despite treatment, the problem persisted. He had seen the efficaciously of magnetic treatment in reducing deposit build-up on water tanks and pipes and knew from experience that plaque and calculus, the primary contributors to periodontal disease, were nothing more than the build-up of similar deposits.

Here the Hydro Floss® oral irrigator was conceived. In this case, “Necessity was the Mother of this Invention”, the idea that Don had was to incorporate a magnet into an oral irrigator, in hopes of the desired result; to successfully treat the cause of periodontal disease. He began using the modified irrigator, and in only three short weeks began seeing the benefits. The symptoms of periodontal disease, which he had dealt with for many years, began to disappear.

Hydrofloss Oral IrrigatorHydro Floss cleans between teeth and deep into gum pockets, removing debris, plaque and other unwanted material which contributes to tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath. This is done with a technique called ‘hydro magnetics’, which actually inhibits bacteria from adhering to the tooth surface.
