Bright, fresh and blemish free skin is something that we would all like to have. Cosmetic and topical procedures and creams may go some way to moisturise or rectify skins problems from the outside, but essentially, our skin health depends on what we put into our bodies. Our skin is one of the first places for most where a lack of nutrition shows- we see it in blemishes, acne, discolouration, blotching, pigments and lacking an overall glow. Green Juice

Brighten Up Baby

  • 4 carrots
  • Handful of spinach
  • Handful of parsley
  • 1/2 apple

Carrots are packed with vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is a powerful antioxidant that prevents cells from degenerating, helps to slow aging, and maintain a youthful appearance. Vitamin A helps the body to maintain tissue growth along with healthy vision, bones, and teeth. Carrots also have a nice amount of vitamin C, which helps the body produce collagen. Collagen is essential for skin elasticity, preventing wrinkles, and slowing signs of aging. The potassium in carrots plays a role in the growth of new skin cells, helping the body maintain the proper electrolyte balance, reduce acne and blemishes, and prevent and cure scars or dark spots on the skin.

Parsley has a detoxifying effect and is great for stimulating the lymphatic symptom and reducing water retention. Spinach has vitamin F (omega fatty acids linoleic acid and alpha-linoleic acid), which is great for healthy functioning, glowing skin. The nutrients in green apples particularly have a handful of skin benefits, including brightening and toning.

The best place to start to reverse the signs of ageing is with what you put into your body. Juicing is a way to detoxify the body and rid it of toxins which cause ageing. The signs of which can show on our skin. One of the most notable things you see when looking at someone who actively juices, is how youthful and fresh their skin looks. These recipes will help your skin look more youthful and radient from the inside out!

Anti-Oxidant Anti Ageing Juice

  • 1/2 cup of strawberries
  • 1 cup of blueberries
  • 1/2 green apple
  • 1/2 beetroot

It is well known that berries are rich in anti-oxidents and this juice is super charged with them to get your skin tighter. Antioxidants speed up cell division and cell regeneration which begins to slow during ageing. They also help to increase detoxification by supporting the liver. Beetroot is also very rich in antioxidants and helps to even out the sweetness in this juice.

Skin Tightening Broccoli Juice

  • 8 stalks of broccoli
  • 3 carrots
  • 3 stalks of celery
  • 1/2 green apple

You may not think to put broccoli in your juice but it is packed full of Vitamin C which increases the production of infection-fighting white blood cells. It is an essential ingredient for anti-ageing and disease prevention. Celery is also an essential ingredient as it contains Vitamin K, which preserves the skins firmness and elastic quality as well as also having Vitamin C.

Research indicates that three of the biggest causes of acne are hormonal imbalances (this can also be triggered by medication), blood sugar imbalances (which can be caused by diet) and digestive imbalances. Your skin is the largest organ in the body and when not properly hydrated signs, like acne, will begin to show. Cucumber is also made up of about 95% water content, so consuming cucumber is a great way to hydrate the body and the skin.

Pomegranate Punch

Pomegranate

  • 1 large pomegrante
  • 1/2 green apple
  • 1/2 beetroot

Pomegranate has been used as medicine for hundreds of years, even dating back to the ancient Egyptians, who valued beauty of the utmost importance. Pomegranates are full of antioxidants, which help to neutralize free radicals which damages cells and tissues and causes inflammation in the body. Be it prior to a break out or during, inflammation increases the severity of pimples. Drinking pomegranate juice can help to reduce inflammation and prevent further breakouts.

Green apple helps to take away the tartness of the pomegranate and doensn't cause rapid blood sugar spike like other fruits can. The Vitamin C in beetroots supports your immune system and is also full of antioxidants. Boosting your immune system allows you body to be able to fight acne triggers.

Pre-packaged pomegranate juice bought from the supermarket contains lots of sugar and will basically have a reverse effect as it will cause rapid spikes in blood sugar levels.   • 1/2 bulb of fennel
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 1/2 apple

Fennel contains high amounts of zinc, which is widely recognized as an essential nutrient for skin health and has been known to assist with conditions such as eczema. It also contains the Vitamin B-complex which helps to maintain healthy skin. Cucumber is our favourite "skin health" vegetable and perfect for hydrating the skin and reducing dry skin. Both cucumber and celery contain silica which keeps skin supple and moisturized from inside out.
